EPFA News - Feature

Updated: Dec 23, 2020

On December 2nd, Alexandra was featured on the EPFA News, showcasing all of the latest news from across Europe.

The piece allowed Alexandra to talk through her introduction into powerchair, alongside difficulties that the coronavirus have presented throughout 2020.

Alexandra was first introduced to the wonderful world of powerchair football in 2016 through the Nottingham City of Football platform. The Nottingham City of Football was appointed by Sport England in 2014 as the first 'City of Football.' The aim was to help people across the city find their pathway to

football in new and interesting ways. The project ran until 31 March 2017, in which, Alexandra was able to participate in multiple forms of football, from powerchair to amputee to walking.

At the first session, Alexandra was introduced to Sam Bull (National Development Manager) and from there, her relationship with the Wheelchair Football Association grew into what it is today. Alongside the Wheelchair Football association, Alexandra has both the Premiership and Championship league games and even photographed the Disability Cup held at St George's Park on two occasions.

Sam Bull introduced Alexandra to the European Powerchair Football Association in 2017 when she was invited to photograph the Home Nations cup in England. The tournament saw England, Ireland and Northern Ireland compete to take home the cup with England eventually taking triumph.

The following year, Alexandra was then invited over to Billund; Denmark to photograph the Champions Cup in 2018 followed by the Champion's Cup in Geneva; Switzerland in 2019. This was too meant to be accompanied by a revisit to Geneva this summer, but because of the coronavirus, the event was unfortunately cancelled.

Working alongside the powerchair community has been extremely eye opening for Alexandra, it has allowed her to see a community of people that not only supports players throughout the massive highs, but the lowest of lows as well.

"It's unlike any other sport I have ever photographed, and I think it's unlike any other sport I think I will."

Alexandra has been asked by the European Powerchair Football Association to showcase three of her favourite images taken within powerchair.

  1. Home Nations Cup 2017 - Goal Celebration

2. Disability Cup Final - St George's Park 2019

3. Champion's Cup - Geneva 2019
